The Performers
Penny Shaw was educated at Oxford University before deciding to pursue a life in the theatre. Her singing career highlights include receiving a standing ovation in Paris as Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, performing the role of Carlotta in Cameron Macintosh’s production of The Phantom of the Opera, opening Highway to Hell for Perth Festival and playing Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte for WA Opera.
Robert Hofmann has sung over 20 roles with West Australian Opera, including Dr Bartolo in The Marriage of Figaro, Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Koko in The Mikado, Dulcamara in The Elixir of Love, Falke in Die Fledermaus and Hobson in Peter Grimes. He has also performed for Opera Australia in Sydney. For Freeze Frame Opera, he has performed Michonnet in Adrian Lecouvreur, title role in Gianni Schicchi, the Father in The Little Mermaid (Rusalka) for Perth Festival and various concerts.
Benjamin Del Borrello is a Western Australian baritone with a Bachelor of Music from The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and is part of the 2024 West Australian Opera Wesfarmers Arts Young Artist Program. Benjamin was awarded the Rogers and Thick Award for 2023 through Freeze Frame Opera and was engaged in his first professional role as Figaro in Rapunzel. This year Benjamin will play Ben The Telephone for the West Australian Opera and Leporello Don Giovanni for Freeze Frame Opera.
Adrian Soares is a seasoned and versatile performer and educator. As a freelance collaborative pianist , he’s worked with many ensembles and musicians in Perth, including West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra, WA Young Voices, Freeze Frame Opera, WAAPA and UWA. He was recently the music director for Priscilla Queen of the Desert with Platinum Entertainment, and WA Opera’s regional tour of Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse’s Koolbardi wer Wardong.
